Be Aware of Scammers!

Warning for job seekers: fraudulent recruitment schemes are on the rise. Learn how to identify and avoid employment scams that target Caribbean workers.

A Growing Threat

The rise of social media and online communication has unfortunately given fraudsters new tools to target unsuspecting job seekers. Across Jamaica and the Caribbean, employment scams have become increasingly sophisticated, with fraudsters impersonating legitimate agencies and creating convincing fake job offers.

Red Flags to Watch For

  • Job offers received via WhatsApp, Facebook, or Instagram from people you don't know
  • Requests to send money via wire transfer, MoneyGram, or Western Union before receiving any official documentation
  • Job offers that do not require an interview or any formal application process
  • Salaries that are unrealistically high for the type of work described
  • Agencies that cannot provide a physical address, Ministry of Labour licence number, or verifiable references

How E-JAM Protects You

E-JAM is a fully licensed employment agency regulated by Jamaica's Ministry of Labour. Our licence number is publicly available, and our offices in Ocho Rios and Fort Lauderdale are registered business locations. What to Do If You're Targeted

If you receive a suspicious job offer or believe you have been targeted by a scammer:

  • Do not send any money or personal documents
  • Do not click on any links sent in the communication
  • Report the incident to the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) Cyber Crime Unit
  • Report it to the Ministry of Labour's Labour Relations and Industrial Disputes (LRID) Division
  • Contact E-JAM if you are unsure whether a job offer is legitimate — we are happy to help you verify
